In 2016 I was extremely into health & fitness. I'd just gone on a journey of losing over 40 lbs., and was always looking for ways to improve my health. I kept hearing about veganism, but honestly I thought it was something weird and restrictive. During this time I began to notice that every time I ate chicken it would make me sick. I never imagined a life with out eating it honestly.
One day I was watching a YouTube video and the girl in the video mentioned she had just transitioned to being vegan. I really valued this persons opinion, so I thought to myself. "maybe I should try this out as well".
With no knowledge of the journey I was about to embark on I went to google, found a few recipes and decided I'd do a seven day challenge. On day seven I realized there was no way I could go back to eating how I once was.
At that moment I realized I needed to learn more about the food industry, and what veganism truly meant. I spent a few days watching heartbreaking documentaries, that truly opened my eyes to a world I was naive to. I decided this was my life now and this would be how I ate. But I didn't know anyone else who ate like this. That's when I decided to start my Instagram page @aletheatodaro. Through this page I was able to connect with tons of like minded individuals. I soon discovered I had a deep passion for cooking.
After I started my Instagram page @aletheatodaro, I also started a YouTube channel, and began posting my recipes on Facebook.
A few of my close friends took interest in the meals I was showcasing, but told me recreating my recipes felt intimidating. One day one of these friends asked if I could cook for her. She said she would pay me to make one of my recipes. The entire concept was so strange and foreign to me but I thought, "what the heck". The next day I made her a meal. I didn't think anything of it, I was more so nervous and hoped she would enjoy what I made. Well she did, lol. She contacted me after that and asked if I could prepare meals for her weekly. Again this concept was foreign to me, but I went with it.
She posted the food I was making for her on her Facebook page. Within a few hours I was being contacted by so many amazing people wanting me to do the same for them.
I realized I needed to make this an official business. So I went and got the necessary licenses, and there birthed PlantStyle.
Since then I have cooked and delivered thousands of meals across Brevard County, FL.
In 2024 I found it hard to balance running a full time personal chef business, along side working diligently to build my online brand.
I decided to take a break from my personal chef business and focus on social media full time. After six months of what I thought would be a "quick break," I soon realized this break might be permanent.
The reason I took this break away from PlantStyle, was to fully focus on building my Instagram account. With lots of hard work, in 2024 I began working with brands. This is something I have always wanted to do, and have now worked with Beyond Meat, Dr. Praeger’s, Purple Carrot, PowerXL, Blue Zones Kitchen, Truvia, Good Planet Foods, and Rewiring America to name a few.
I now create recipes full time and I wouldn't have it any other way. I look forward to working with more brands and growing from here.
I'm not sure if I'll ever relaunch my personal chef business, but right now I'm just enjoying the growth of myself and my brand.
I transitioned to eating 100% plant-based (a food diet consisting largely or solely of vegetables, grains, pulses, or other foods derived from plants, rather than animal products.) in Spring of 2016. This is by far of of the greatest decisions I've ever made for my life.
I decided to change the way I ate because chicken was starting to make me sick. I found out about a vegan/plant-based diet, and tried it for seven days. I realized I loved how I felt & enjoyed the creativity I could unlock by making recipes using plants. I never looked back!
After trying every type of plant-based/vegan diet (raw, alkaline, junk food vegan ect), I realized balance was key in order to happily sustain this lifestyle. Now I eat intuitively and don't put pressure on myself to fit someone's version of "a perfect way to eat". This is a personal journey, and I am enjoying every second of it. I also find it helpful to have an idea of things I'd like to eat during the week, so I make sure I have the necessary ingredients available. This makes eating at home even easier. Because, "Baby there's food at home" and I will always be here to show you that the options are unlimited.
